Natasha Denona Eye shadow palette
This week I’m sharing a new eye shadow palette I recently purchased. With so many new makeup products coming out constantly, it’s hard for me to stay away and not give into these little beauties. I finally caved and went for my chance for the highly talked about Natasha Denona eye shadow line. Natasha Denona is a renowned international makeup artist. Her makeup line focuses on high quality products that are noted for their exceptional user-friendliness.
The packaging is simple; I chose my palette in no.8 that came with 5 shadows. I decided to choose this palette because I liked the pink/peach colors, which I thought would be great to wear during these spring months. At first touch, these eye shadows are very buttery, smooth, and are highly pigmented. As you can see from the swatches, the color payoff is true to what is shown in the pan, which I am very excited about.
Upon application, the shadows were very easy to pick up onto a brush and were easily blend able. I did find that the pink and the peach shade were the easiest to work with and loved the look it gave me. The first shadow to the left, the shiniest of them all, gave some fallout when applied. The greens were nice, but took a little more effort for me to blend out, maybe because they were a darker shade. My overall opinion on this palette is a good one. I would give these shadows a 4/5. The payoff is great, they are easy to work with, and I really am enjoying the looks achieved with these colors. I wanted to write a separate review on where I made my purchase because this was my first experience with them, and I am pleasantly surprised. Firstly, I had never heard of beautylish and upon first glance at their sight I was impressed by the brands they carried. They don’t have a long list of makeup brands like Sephora does. Instead, it seemed as if their brands were ones that were hard to find, or ones that I simply have not heard of, this intrigued me. Reading more about it, they are a newly established online retail boutique and have built a strong beauty community.
My great personal experience started at the first step, opening the box. The stamp letting me know who packaged my box left a personal interaction, making me feel as if that person took the time to package my box nicely. It came in a gorgeous paper wrapper that replicated the Natasha Denona shadows, great touch! The personal note was a pleasant surprise, making me feel important as their customer. To top it off, there was a sample added to my package, unknown to me, that made me excited to see. Overall, this is probably one of the nicest packages I have received from a company. From the fast shipping, to the packaging, personal note, and added sample bonus! Beautylish has done things right, making their customers feel important, and building a solid relationship. They definitely got a return customer out of me! Thanks Beautylish! Check them out here: www.beautylish.com
When it comes to makeup, I like to keep thing natural, simple and easy. Springtime means a lightweight foundation, cool tone colors, keeping my overall look fresh and glowing. Today on the blog I’m breaking down my everyday spring products that keeps me looking fresh, awake, and effortless, giving me a simple springtime look.
I’ve just started using this Becca Backlight Priming Filter and love it so far. This primer gives me a lovely glow, while keeping my makeup in place for the day. It glides on the face very nice, feeling moisturizing and light. I like to use the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Fluid as my foundation. This lightweight fluid gives little coverage, but just enough to give you radiance, comfortable on the skin, and protects against the sun with its SPF 15. I’m a big fan of Chanel products because of their smell, if you are sensitive to smells or don’t like a scent to your products, this one may not be right for you. The Urban Decay Naked concealer has been my favorite of a while now. It provides a good amount of coverage, is blendable and hydrating under the eyes.
I like to use my Marc by Marc Jacobs Lolita eye palette. This palette gives me all the shadows I need to get a simple eye look. I’ve had this palette for a while, and am starting to gravitate to it more because of its light pink hues, great for an everyday look. The shadows are blendable, easy to work with and are fairly pigmented. If there were one palette I would recommend from the Marc Jacobs beauty line, the Lolita would be the one!
I’ve loved using this Clinique Superfine liner for brows. It’s a great alternative to the highly popular Anastatia brow wiz. I found that its easily workable, glides on with the slightest touch, and the color suits be better than the brow wiz. I sometimes like to add a winged eyeliner, but only do it on the outer half of my eyes, especially for a day look. I like to use the Inglot gel eyeliner, this product allows me to maneuver the perfect wing, lasting and staying put all day.
I’m not really into the strong contour look, probably because I’m not very skilled at it, lol, instead I like to bronze my face and use a blush that is light and glowing. This Bobbie Brown Shimmer Brick in Apricot is one of my favorites. I use it as a blush/highlighter in one. I love the color pay off and it gives me a fresh glowing look on my cheeks (I believe this shade is limited edition). I top off my makeup look with a light sweep of the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder. This sets my makeup nicely, giving it an over all even finish, and the smell is a plus for me also.
I tend to reach for more of my glosses during these spring months. This YSL Volupte Tint in oil is a unique product like no other. It’s an oil tint that acts like a gloss, but finishes to a stain when it has settled for a while. I enjoy using this for its light feeling on the lips, color payoff, and scented mango smell! Love this. I like to add a neutral lip liner before applying certain gloss/lip colors to ensure i get the exact color transferred to my lips.
So these are the product I like to use for my everyday look. Again, I like to keep things light and fresh for these spring months. These products are exactly what I used for this look. It’s a simple, easy makeup look that anyone can use. I’m curious to see if I’ll change it up, or add any new products to my collection for some new spring looks. Stay tuned!
As my wardrobe changes for spring so does my accessories. It’s that time again for probably my most loved scent of all time to come front and center. I’m talking about the Jo Malone Cologne in Orange Blossom. This fragrance was first introduced to me probably 10 years ago and continues to be my all time favorite scent. I’m not a fan of ‘heavy’ scents, and like to keep things light and fresh. This particular scent is described as ‘A shimmering garden oasis. Clementine flower sparkles over a heart of orange blossom and water lily, with warm undertones of orris and balsamic vetiver. Pure delight.’ Pure delight indeed. I usually only spray two sprays once a day, once on my wrist, then once on my neck area. That is enough to give me just the right amount that I want throughout the day. By the end of the day, the smell is still lasting, but has muted away to a softer, keeping true to its original spraying scent.
Sold at most high-end department stores, I usually pick mine up at Neiman Marcus, especially around the holidays, where they have great gift options and specials. This is an investment perfume, but will last you a long time and is well worth it in my opinion! If you have ever wondered about these scents, or are willing to splurge on a new springtime scents, this is it! The line carries an array of scents and other beauty options. I love this brand because of its unique, fresh and pure scents, not to mention its long lasting staying power. I’m hoping to find a new scent to love from the collection because I love the brand, but until then, I have my Orange Blossom to love on and obsess over during these spring/summer months!

I was never a fan of lipsticks. For one, I do not like the consistency; feeling like something was on my lips. Some of the lipsticks I’ve tried have a drying feeling to them, which end up looking patchy and gross. Second, I can’t stand that waxy smell! Eww! Some of the bad ones would make me sick, and give me a huge headache! Not worth it! And Third, I was never able to give my kids kisses without staining them with kiss marks! Lol. I give my kids kisses daily, and hate having to worry about not be able to because of a lipstick on my lips.
So for all these reasons, I would find myself regularly reaching for a balm or gloss instead. Until I discovered these YSL Lipsticks! These Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks glide on so smooth, and are very hydrating, long lasting, and best of all smell so good! Somehow they get their lip products to have a light, pleasing, mango scent. Now I am able to wear a lipstick that doesn’t feel like all the ones I’ve tried before, but yet gives a great color payoff upon application. It feels light on my lips, and sometimes I even forget I have a lip product on. I would highly recommend if you are not a fan of the lipstick ‘feeling’ but like the look of it, then try these out! As you can see, I’ve grown my color selection quite I bit since becoming a fan. As for my last problem of not being able to kiss my kids, well this is still an issue. So I try to get in all the kisses before I apply my lipstick, haha! Have any of you tried these? What are your favorite lip products?
Being a mom on the go with two small toddlers at home doesn’t allow me much time to play around with makeup anymore. I’ve sort of unintentionally developed my own ‘everyday’ look that gets me out the door, but yet presentable too. I’ve always had people ask me what type of product I use on my eyes, so today I’m breaking down my simple, fast, and easy look that I do everyday.
First thing I do is prime my eyes. My current favorite is the Nars eyelid primer. I think wearing a primer for my shadow keep them lasting all day and keeps my eyelids from getting oily. My three favorite neutral shadows of all times are from MAC. I first apply Soft brown all over my lid, which is the lightest shade of the three i use. I build it up till I get the shade desired, then I mix Saddle, and Brown script together and apply it to my outer crease area and blend. I do this to give my eyelids a bit of definition. Depending on whether I have time or not, I will sometime reach for a liquid eyeliner and draw on a small winged line if I’m feeling more of a prominent look that day. Finally it’s time to curl the lashes! I love this Surratt eyelash curler. It allows me to curl my lashes to its fullest potential without pinching my eyelid, or being harsh on the eyelashes. I give my lashes a quick curl, and then apply it with great mascara. I received this benefit roller lash curl as a gift, and love it! It’s not clumpy, gives me great volume, and doesn’t weigh down my lashes. Finally I line my waterline and lower line with a brown kohl eyeliner. This one from MAC is my favorite.
So those are the entire products used for my everyday makeup look. It’s simple, no fuss, easy to apply and gets the job done for me. If you are pressed for time in the mornings, but still want to apply that cute makeup look, I would suggest investing in products that are easy to use and are easy to blend. Sometimes those eye shadows at the drugstore are cheap, but they can apply on chalky and take time to blend out, time, which this mom doesn’t have in the morning. I think these neutral colors give me a natural eye look, and are just the right colors to make my brown eyes stand out. Do you use the same makeup look everyday? Or do you like to switch it up daily?
