The weather is getting warmer, that means more time outside spent for my kids and I. Today I’m sharing three products that are a must that I use to protect my skin throughout the day.
At the moment, my favorite gloss is the YSL tint-in-oil. This gloss is super lightweight, doesn’t leave any tackiness, and the color is subtle and fresh! Infused with essential oils, your lips will keep hydrated and shine bright during your days on the go. I use this daily, it enhances the natural beauty of my lips, and smells so good with the YSL signature mango scent. Shop
No matter if it’s shining bright outside, or overcast I always apply sunscreen under my makeup. This facial moisturized sunscreen by Peter Thomas Roth has an SPF of 30 and sits on my face well. I’ve tried other facial sunscreen that leaves a tacky feeling and a sunscreen scent. This does not do that. Instead, it acts like a simple moisturizer expect with all the benefits that will protect from sun damage, keeping your skin looking smooth and youthful. Shop
When my kids and I have a day at the beach, park, or zoo, I always reach for this sunscreen. The scent smells like a tropical destination, reminding me a lot of Hawaii. My kids love the scent and the packaging is oh so cute with its Sun Bum name! The SPF range for the line is from 15-70 so options for the amount of sun protection is available. Shop
Sun protection is very important. When you head out, don’t forget to add a little bit of protection. These products are some great options to make the process easy and comfortable!
Last week Sephora ran its bi-annual VIB sales. Every time this year Sephora offers 15% off all purchases for 5 days, no exclusions. Yes, that’s right no exclusions! This means that item that never goes on sale; well this is the time beauty lover and enthusiasts, stock up fill their carts with new items, all in the sake of a great sale. I usually use this sale to stock up on and items I know that I repurchase constantly and give me the chance try new products that I’ve always wanted to, but didn’t want to pay full price for. My makeup/skin care collection is pretty set, so this year I was focused on scents. These are the items is picked up.
I picked up two scents from the Marc Jacobs fragrance line. These fragrance splashes are the latest from the line, perfect for the spring and summer months. I was able to smell the rain scent a few weeks ago in stores, so I knew I would love it, but took a chance on the cucumber scent. Well, it wasn’t what I had hoped for. I was expecting a fresh cucumber scent, but instead, it smelt more like a floral scent, with a cucumber splash. It wasn’t bad, but not what I expected, therefor I returned it. The rain scent is great; I’ve been using it daily. It’s a light fresh spring scent; the only downside is the staying power is not long at all.
The next item is the Urban Decay all night setting spray. This is a repurchase that just so happened to run out, in time for the sale! I love this product. I use it at the end of my makeup routine, spraying it on m face enabling my makeup to stay on all day long. I’ve used this for a few years and continue going back to it because it really does work!
The final product was a new purchase. I heard good things about this spot acne treatment. I’ve used one from origins before, and wanted to see if there were any other products like it that would fight those stubborn pimple spots away. Well, I’m disappointed to say that it did not work to my expectations and returned it because of that. I didn’t enjoy the consistency, as I found it too runny, perhaps it’s because I was use to the origins product, which is more of a gel, thicker product. Also, the scent was horrible, smelling like a medicine that should not belong on your face! So I’m still on the hunt for a great spot acne treatment to have on hand when those pesky little things like to show up! Leave me any recommendations in the comment section if you know or use any good one!
FYI, Sephora has a great return policy where you can try the products, and if you’re not satisfied, you can return it for a full refund!
I have been on the search for a good bronzer/contour brush. I’ve tried Sigma brushes in the past, and liked them, but never thought to expand my collection from the one foundation brush I have. It wasn’t until I browsed Nordstrom’s beauty section, that I decided to give the brand another chance. First, I think the quality of the brushes fit the price point well. They feel nice, and have a nice weight to them. Visually they look pleasing, but the real test would be performance.
Listed as a small contour brush, I use this one for bronzing up my face. Its narrow head makes it easy to manipulate and control where I want the makeup placed. I’m not a beauty expert by any means, so I’m always looking for product to help me achieve that ‘professional’ look the easiest and fastest way possible. This brush is golden! It has become my favorite bronzing brush! It’s so easy to use, picks up and distributes products with ease. It has been a breeze to work with and love how my makeup is applied on my face.
With bronzing, comes blush. I didn’t need a new blush brush since I am obsessed with my MAC blush brush, but Nordstrom’s was running a gift special, where if you bought a certain amount we would receive two mini eye brushes and a mini brush spa glove to clean your brushes. I’m a sucker for gifts with purchases, so I was willing to purchase a new blush brush which allowed me to qualify for the gift with my purchase. I am so glad that I did! This brush is shaped differently than any of my other brushes, and I love it! The application is wonderful and it is a great alternate to my other blush brush.
I’ve been pleased with these two new brush purchases from Sigma. I think they are comparative to MAC brushes based on price and quality. Some of Sigma’s brushes perform better than others, but based on these two certain ones I picked up, they are definitely my top brushes for bronzing/contouring and blush. The gift that came with my purchase is an added bonus and I am enjoying using them as well. They are a mini version, so it'll be great to travel with, and the pink color is just so cute!

Today I’m sharing a new nail art tool I wanted to try. As you all know, I like to do my nails at home, and by doing so, I’m always on the hunt for new products to make things easier. I was on the lookout for a styling pen that I could use to achieve some design art for my nails. I came across this nail art pen by Sally Hansen. I picked it up in white, which is a great pop of color, especially for this spring season. I prepare my nails with my red carpet gel manicure set as always. If you missed the blog on how I achieve my salon looking nails the link is here: http://www.thislovelife.com/beauty/red-carpet-manicure
Before I apply the top-finishing coat on, I use the pen to draw on my designs. Since it was my first time using it, I opted for a white tip design, and one heart design. Upon the first application, it came out pretty easy, and if I made a mistake, I was able to wipe away and try again. As I went on I noticed I had to shake the pen so the ink would come to the tip of the pen (tip: make sure you shake with the cap on!). It dried pretty quickly, and would produce little streaks if I went over the same area too many times.
I waited for the ink pen to dry completely then proceeded to finish off my nails with the topcoat. As I wiped it clean, my manicure was complete. I am very pleased with the results. It’s not ‘perfect’ up close, but from afar it looks good in my opinion. At $5.99, I’d say the price was reasonable for the job done. It’s been a week now, and my nails look the same since when I applied the art. Final thoughts: A styling pen is easier than trying to do art with a brush, the pen required a lot of shaking to get the product out, it became streaky if applied in the same area too many times. The pen was easy to work with as I got more use to it. I’d say this pen is worth a try if you are looking for a fast simple product to get some easy nail art design done for your manicure. This is definitely a fool proof, beginners tool.
*Note: Results may differ if using with normal nail polish, my nails use the red carpet manicure system, which dries right away.
