I’ve talked about how important it is to keep some basic pieces in your wardrobe before, but sometimes these basic pieces can become boring and simply plain. When you feel like you need just a little something to spruce up a seemingly basic look, accessorize! The great thing about having basic pieces such as a plain shirt or dress, is that it acts like a blank canvas. There’s no need to worry if the accessorizes are going to match the details of the shirt, but instead they will to accentuate and compliment the look, taking it from boring to stylish!
Some of my favorite and fastest ways to instantly change a look from boring to interesting is adding my ever so loved straw rancher hat. I’ve been using this piece on major repeat for the last few months, and why not? It goes with everything, easy to wear, and when I’m feeling a little plain in my look, it instantly adds the extra something it needs.
I also like to play with necklaces and different lengths to give a boring scoop neckline more of a shape, mixing some high and lows, widths and shapes. A plain tee is the perfect background for my ‘love’ necklace, it gives it a spotlight, and layered with my favorite pendant necklace, the pair gives my neckline the perfect amount for chic and stylish look.
So the next time you reach for that plain colored tee and feel it needs a little something else, turn to your accessories. Accessorizing is fun, stylish, and ever so fashionable!
Who else spent the last two weeks relaxing after a long day watching the Olympics? I did! When the kids went to bed, that’s when my husband and I would catch up on our favorite events during the games. What better way to support your country than rocking out some supportive gear. I’m finding myself wearing more dresses this summer. I mean why not? They’re light, airy, whimsical, and make me feel so girly. Not to mention it’s only one piece of clothing item which makes things easy, especially when packing for a trip. I sometimes get worried about the dresses being too short, so I try to find ones that are longer in length, hitting just right below the knees or at the ankle.
This teal blue dress makes a statement that is paired with an intricate design to make for a casual rustic feel. You can dress this dress down by pairing it with a pair of booties or sandals. Dress it up for a night out with a leather jacket and heels.
Look for lightweight dresses that are weather appropriate making for a great summertime time wardrobe. When wearing your dress, make it comfortable for your lifestyle, feel confident and have fun with them!

The US Olympic team uniform has inspired today’s look. It’s always fun watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics and it was especially fun to style and put together this outfit. Designed by American fashion house Ralph Lauren, Lauren always puts out an all American classic look, stamped with his signature Polo wear. This year consisted of white trousers, striped red, white, and blue t-shirts, overlaid with a fitted navy blue blazer.
Looking through my closet, this white and blue striped romper was the right outfit, translating perfectly for an everyday casual wear. Paired with my comfortable Sperry topsider shoes and a lightweight linen blazer, pops of red was accented to make for a seamlessly casual inspired look by the US Olympic team uniform.
