4/22/2016 0 Comments A little bit of homeWe don’t get many guest stay with us that often, but when we do, I want my guests to feel as comfortable as possible. I recently stayed with some family that had the basic bathroom essentials needed for us to use. I wasn’t expecting it, so it was a delight to feel as if I was staying in a hotel, but not. There was something about knowing that if I had forgotten my shampoo and soap that I’d still survive without running to the grocery store (who wants to do that on vacation) because the products were there for me. This led me to replicating this gesture to any guests that come to our home. I wanted to create a homey/tropical theme for my guests. I like to incorporate what reminds me of home, and what makes me feel as if I have a little piece of Hawaii to share with my guests. Orchids are a direct link to my mom; she has such a big love and passion for growing and raising these beauties, that whenever I see one I’m reminded of her. It’s so beautiful, simple, and easy to place in the bathroom that is not too overwhelming, giving it the perfect amount of natural touches. I then thought about if I was traveling, what items were my necessities that I needed to have a full shower. I don’t know about you, but I save all the little shampoos and soaps when I go to a hotel, especially if they are a great brand such as Peter Thomas Roth, or L’occitaine! (Yes, I got these from staying at a hotel once!) These are great to put out for your guests to use! I also like to place a little perfume scent for the ladies to try if they want. Finally, I know they might not burn one, but having a candle completes the display giving it an aesthetically homey appeal, hoping for my guests to feel comfortable and relaxed. Giving your guest the option to be able to use products that you provide can make for a pleasurable and comfortable experience. Pick a theme that you love, and find things around your house that replicates that. So all those hotel shampoos and soaps that you have lying around put them to use and offer them to your guests to use. It’ll make your guest feel special and welcoming, which makes for a wonderful start to a visit! Xoxo Sam 4/14/2016 0 Comments Drink Healthy
This is the recipe I’ve been using for the past two weeks and love it. I blend all the ingredients in my trusty magic bullet, and the results are a delicious (to my taste palette) green smoothie. It’s refreshing, light, and filling. I like to drink this for my afternoon snack, boosting my energy for barre class later that day. Trying to stay healthy and eat better is different for everyone. Finding those shortcuts by blending everything into a smoothie is a great way to get all those greens in at one time. This has been working for me, and I will continue to try new ingredients, per the season and what fruits and vegetables are freshly available. Do you have any delicious ideas or smoothie recipes to share? Xoxo Sam 4/7/2016 0 Comments Weekend PlansFriday is here and that means the weekend is here! I don’t know about you guys, but usually when Friday rolls around, that means movie night for my husband and I (at home). We then discuss about any plans we want to accomplish for the weekend. Do you guys plan out your weekend ahead of time? Or do you go with the flow and do things spur of the moment? Our plans are dependent on our kids or what errands we need to get done, but our weekends seem to fly by whether we have things planned or not. Sometimes doing the same thing every weekend can become monotonous. Although it may be comfortable, doing something out of the ordinary can be fun and adventurous. Check out your local newspaper for events going on in your local area. There’s always something bound to be going on every weekend somewhere you just have to research and find it. Here are some local events (San Diego area) happening this weekend: Sat April 9th 5th annual Healthy Living Festival- Del Mar fairgrounds San Diego BBQ fest Sun April 10th San Marcos Festival Street Fair While some of these festivals can be free admission, lets just be honest, you never walk out without spending a bit of money because of all the food, food, food, delicious food! But sometimes it is oh so worth it! Other activity ideas can be as simple as walking around a local market, checking out a new place to eat, or simply walking outside for some fresh air. Taking some time as a family to take a walk outside always puts a refresh button in me. There’s something about fresh air, the sun, and wind that makes me thankful for my surroundings and happy in the place that I am. It’s a nice ending to a fast weekend, getting me ready for the busy weekdays ahead. Have an awesome weekend! Xoxo Sam |
