The day has come. The day that I’ve been nervous, sad, overwhelmed, excited for has finally arrived; my son’s first day of school. I’ve had all these feelings building up over the past few months anticipating a whole new milestone for my whole family. Doubts in my head, worried that my child would not know what to do, not know how to handle things that I usually help him out with daily, would all pile into my head at night. So atlas, the day arrived, my son went off to his first day of school.
Anticipating a meltdown or a scared little boy, I was expecting the worst. Fear that I hadn’t prepared him enough for this day, questioning whether this was the right school all came to a sudden halt when I saw my son standing in line for school to start, turned around and gave me a huge hug, smile and wave, “bye mom! Love you!” At that moment all my emotions became calm and realized that I did it, I made it to the day, where I would send my child off to school. I’m not going to lie, I did watch the clock tick every hour, waiting to go pick him up, wanting to know how he did, what he did, if he was ok, again fear set into me that what if he cried all day? Then, as I pulled up to pick him up, saw his smiling face shinning bright, and the words “I had a great day, school is fun!” come out of his mouth, in that instant those fears disappeared.
Children are amazing and they can do amazing things. While it’s hard for me to let him go, I’m so proud of him, happy for him, and look forward to hearing how his days were spent. I am so relieved that this day went smoothly with no tears (except a few from mom) and can’t wait to see how he will progress the rest of the school year!
As summer vacation is coming to an end we decided to take a family vacation before the school year starts. We decided to head to one of our most favorite places, San Francisco! If you’re new to This Love Life, you’ll learn quickly that we often travel up to the Bay area. It feels like home every time we go back, but every time we go, we experience something new and something different.
Being a military family, we are not surrounded by family relatives that often, so seeing as how I do have some great relatives that live in the area, we were able to spend some nice family time together. More importantly, my kids got to hang out with their cousins, which rarely happens.
We also got to spend some grown up time with a great group of friends! Good food and good company makes for a good night out. I think, as I’ve gotten older, I appreciate and cherish my friendships even more. These ladies are a lot of fun and so supportive of each other, love them!
Finally, we got to walk around the city enjoying all the beautiful sights, diverse culture, and cold weather! Yes, it is still cold in the heart if San Francisco all year round! Luckily we brought jackets, but we were still cold! I’m grateful for the time I get to spend with my family, friends and love to travel. While we may not be able to do all the activities we want to because the kids are still young, we still have a good time, just in our own way. Can’t wait for our next adventure together!
Here we go, vacation time! This week, the family and I are embarking on our last trip before the school year starts. We are headed up to San Francisco. Each time we come here is always different. The kids are a little bit older now since the last time we were here which means new adventures. Going for a total of 5 days, packing for a family of 4 became a bit overwhelming, so I’ve come up with a list of things to ease your packing woes that I’ve learned from over time.
1. Pack light: Don’t pack complicated outfits for you and especially for your kids. Their normal schedule is being interrupted, so the last thing you want to worry about is pairing the right shoes with the outfit. Instead pack easy, simple clothes that you know will be comfortable.
2. Separate by outfit: I like to fold each outfit and separate them by each day’s outfit. This makes reaching for it fast and easy, grabbing in and out of the bag without causing a mess.
3. Work as a team: Setting certain task for each person takes the pressure from worrying about everything. I used to put all the responsibility on me to get everybody and everything ready for each trip that I would be so exhausted making for a miserable first day of vacation. Now, my husband and I designate which tasks we will be in charge of making for a better time, feeling calm and ready to start the vacation.
Getting away with the family is always a special time we look forward to. As the kids get older, packing and such does get easier, but is still an exhausting task. These are a few of the key points I’ve learned through trial and error that have made things a little easier along the way.

As parents we all want to get the best baby gear on the market. With so many options, choosing the right stroller for your growing family can be overwhelming and quite frustrating. Maybe you have a toddler and one on the way, or maybe you are like us who have 2 little ones close in age that still want to be strolled around. We’ve had our fair share of double strollers, and quite frankly, half of our garage is filled with them! Today I’m sharing with you the all in one Evenflo Sibby Travel System, allowing 2 children to ride along at the same time.
On those days where it’s just the kids and I running errands, this travel system allows me to go on with my day worry free. I don’t have to lug around a huge double stroller, worry about fitting through doorways, or worry about it taking up my whole trunk space. My daughter, who is the youngest enjoys sitting, while my son loves the Ride Along Board. We can now cruise around the mall, all kids happy, and most importantly stress free! I can’t tell you how easy this stroller is to fold and unfold, how light it is, and how functional it is, all a parents dream!
I love the stylish look of the stroller! The under sear storage is huge, perfect for storing a baby bag, shopping bags and any other necessities. The sport style handgrips are comfortable, easy to maneuver, giving ample room for my son to stand while on the Ride Along Board. There’s an optional 2 level footrest, giving your child room to grow. The layback seat is always a plus, providing a comfortable sleeping space, which my daughter took full advantage of!
The Evenflo Sibby Travel system comes with an infant car seat and base, making it convenient from car to stroller in one step. This stroller is so compact that it is great for travel! It will definitely be getting its miles in especially on our upcoming road trip.
This has become my everyday stroller. It’s so easy, simple, offering me everything I need to stroll my little ones around, perfect to enjoy our days out together. The Evenflo Sibby Travel system is available at Target. Shop and find out more by clicking the links below!
