Last week I decided to go on a coffee strike. That’s right, no coffee, none. Often times we say we can’t function with out coffee and I wanted to see it that stood true for me. It is the first thing I look forward to in the morning, and I would sometimes end my night with a cup also (I would still sleep like a baby). I know that coffee cream is my number one sugar intake throughout the day, so I want to see if by cutting it out, I see a difference. I also would like to see if it makes a difference in the way that I feel. Is coffee something I need? Or is it something I’m just used to? The first two days were the hardest. I put away my coffee machine so it wouldn’t tempt me. Every day gets easier, but it’s still hard to be out running errands and not running into a coffee shop for a quick picker upper.
In giving up my drink of choice, I needed to find something else to supplement this void and I thought what better way than green juice?! These nutrients packed drinks are fresh and healthy for you. What better way to get in your greens than to drink it all in one cup? I even get my daughter to drink it with me sometimes! I’ve been discovering different juiceries, trying to find the one that I like the best. The world of green juice is a healthy choice, but I’m not going to lie, it is very expensive. It’s been exactly one week since I’ve started this journey and while I don’t see any major changes, I haven’t been craving a coffee drink so bad yet. Tune in next week to see how week two goes and if I’m still on my coffee strike!
