Shopping for designer brand name goods is not cheap by any means. We all have our favorite brands, and things we like to buy. There are some things I’m willing to splurge on, but when it comes to clothes, I’m going to share my secret on how I’m able to wear designer goods for sometimes half the price! Ready for it…. Sale, sale, sale. Yes, that’s right, I’m not ashamed to admit that most of my clothing items I buy, I buy on sale. After years of experience, both studying the industry, and working as a stylist, I’ve come to observe and learn the trends of goods for sale. So if you have your eye out on something that you’ve been wanting, chances are it will go on sale, eventually.
Retail stores push their new products to the shelves quickly for each season. Just as quick as it hits the shelves, you’ll be surprised at how fast it will go on sale. Whether it is 10%, 25%, or 50%, companies want and need to get rid of their inventory for the upcoming season trends. So what does this means for us as consumers? We can get what we want at a cheaper price than its initial retail price. Who doesn’t want to score a great deal?! I don’t know about you, but I feel as sense of accomplishment when I can snatch up a great pair of shoes, denim, or shirt for a great price! Very rarely do I ever purchase a clothing item for FULL Price!
Now, with this in mind, there’s one important step that will make the process of getting that item you want on sale be successful, patience. You have to be patient, and wait for the item to hit the sale rack. Shopping a sale is like browsing through a flea market, you have to browse though, looking and grabbing that unique item for yourself, snatching it up before others do. If you see or know an item that you are looking for, be patient. Wait for the store to have a sale, or a coupon to come out. Usually the big sales happen at the end of the season. For example, spring is right around the corner, which means, fall sales are in full swing! So that coat you were eyeing at the beginning of the season, if it’s still in stock, will probably be in the sale section by now. I had wanted a blazer from Zara that was chic, but still casual. I had seen them in the store around November, but didn’t want to spend $200, which was around its full retail price. Well, my patience paid off, because 2 months later, during their huge winter clearance sale, I found one that fit my image perfectly for $40! Score!
So remember, patience, patience, and patience. If you have your eye on an item, that isn’t a staple item for that store, or a widely popular item (because those may not go on sale), it will most likely end up on the clearance rack. Shopping a sale is like a treasure hunt, it takes patience and perseverance to get through the trail, but when you get there, the prize it so rewarding and worth it! LOL. And for those of you, who despise shopping in stores, shop online! I always click on the clearance section before anywhere else on the site!
