Nestled in the town of Laie located on the famous North Shores of Oahu, the Polynesian Cultural Center is the place to immerse yourself and bring to life the spirit of Polynesia for visitors and local residents alike. Divided by its 6 Polynesia villages, guests can expect to learn and get hands on experience on such things as how these cultures exist, survive, celebrate in dance, or wear and learn the significance of a Maori Tatoo. So much fun for the Keikis (kids) providing so many activities and on hand interaction, here’s a glimpse at some of our highlights throughout the day.
We were told that the Canoe show in the afternoon was a popular show, so naturally we had to make sure we were there for that, and boy was it packed! The Music was great, the energy was high, and the respect and pride for the Polynesian culture felt amazing.
There are multiple cultural presentations throughout each village, demonstrations, and learning facts to be enjoyed by all. You can experience each village at your own pace or can opt for a guided tour, depending on which ticket packet you get. My kids especially enjoyed the marked scavenger hunt, where they had to do certain activities within the villages and receive a stamp upon completion.
Our ticket packet included a dinner buffet and Luau, which was perfect since the whole family was starving. The food was outstanding and the show was great too! It felt so nice to sit down, and enjoy our surroundings.
The night ended with the final show HA: Breathe of Life show. Situated in it’s own dome theater; this award winning show was the highlight of the day. It is probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It is such a powerful story telling show through dance and music. I was so captivated by the presentation and quality from the actors, the passion and costume designs were so impressive. The Fire show! One of the best IF not the best I have ever seen. I can’t say enough good things about the show, and highly recommend to everyone! (Pics and Video weren't allowed in the show)
This was an amazing day and thanks to Polynesia Cultural Center for sponsoring our time here. It's such a cool experience to bring my kids back to a place my parents used to take me and watch it now all in the perspective through their eyes. I highly recommend you set out a day here, whether you’re planning your next trip to Hawaii, or are local residents, or have visitors coming into town. This is truly an experience like no other, an experience that walks you through the Polynesian culture and one that’s so important to who and where Hawaii came from to its present day.
